Mostly About Rocks!

Well, it's been a confusing and adrenaline filled morning here at OTDE. I spent a good hour stressing because I walked past the mirror and noted I had one diamond stud on. Also, my sweater was inside out. So after retracing steps several times, and thoroughly cleaning the recliner (where I found one cat toy!), I retraced my steps yet again, and can report that wayward earring is now being cleaned. It was on the bedroom floor, hiding in the carpeting. So now at least, I can feel free to vacuum without looking forward to sorting through what accumulates in the dust reservoir! The Boarder, of course, is Opposed.

I wouldn't be likely to misplace a bijoux made of this rock, though. Even if they cut it up into a relatively large number of pieces! A substantially less expensive rock of the extra-terrestrial sort could also be yours for under half a million euros!

In other news, I have the keys to practice tonight! Should be much more fun than my morning was ...

you're lucky that the Border didn't find the diamond stud first...he'd either eat it or wear it!! As for your sweather being inside out...I'm not even going to comment, hehehehe!

Lily, oh, he'd just toy with it!

At least it was a black cardigan. My shirt was on right. ;-)

Yes, the Boarder is only Mildly Batty for Rocks...

So happy you found the diamond!

Jenny -- ha!

Meg, me too! (They're not large or flashy studs, but they are important to me. I bought them with money my Grandpa left me.)

After watching the U.S. news show, 60 Minutes, this previous Sunday with a story on the terrible things people in Africa are doing to each other over diamonds, I must admit that the article on the chicken-egg-sized diamond looses a bit of its luster for me.

P.S. Actually this most recent 60 Minutes episode covered gold; previous shows discussed diamonds.

Al, I understand what you are saying.

There are conflict free diamonds from sources that provide provenance easily available in today's marketplace. This particular stone is an important find from an established mine.

There are also what are considered to be ethical metals. For more information, this is a good blog to visit: http://www.fairjewelry.org .
