More Than Just A Pretty Face!

It seems, as it is likely he will stay on (our relationship now stretches over years), that The Boarder has set about earning his keep.

As I rounded the stairs this morning there it was. Dead. On its back. Four legs in the air. Still warm. I know this because shortly thereafter I scooped it up, my hand inside a plastic bag. Thankfully uneaten. Because really, while Onyx might be earning his keep he isn't interested in nice big deworming pills. So let this serve as a warning to Other Mice. George has left the building. The Boarder might look just as relaxed, but he is Not So Forgiving!

Yippee! I'm somewhat of a rodent-hater right now...they are all over my garden. Go kitty!

I hate to burst your bubble, Wendy, but the fact that the Boarder killed a mouse and that you wanted him to are entirely coincidental. He is, after all, a cat, and would never stoop so low as to 'earn his keep' as you put it.

It is nice, though, when what you want and what he wants end up being the same thing. Just don't fool yourself into thinking he's had a complete change of species!

Lovely photo of him, by the way.

Timothy, I don't know what you mean! ;-) I've been training him with toy mice for some time now, do you not think he has generalized? (In other news, he is now learning to go through a hoop. So sometimes the order of behaviours to earn a treat is: come, sit, up (onto a trunk), sit, walk through the hoop.)

Brent & Meg -- Indeed!!

Jenny: :-)

And he left it intact as a present for you, because he loves you!...good thing he doesn't bring in live birds or baby rabbits. It becomes more complicated then!
