On an aquatic note: "Who me?" was the somewhat incredulous response Duane got this morning when after 600 metres he asked me to move up a lane.
It took me a long time to really warm up, but thankfully the main set (5 x 400) came with the instruction "long, slow distance". After I finally settle into a groove, I can go a good long way comfortably at that kind of pace. Once practice was over there were 4100 metres under my belt — the last as 5 x 100 (lcm) whip kick. Incidentally, Ottawa U has some new kickboards similar to these (available at Swim 2000), and I am finding them a comfortable alternative to the traditional board. In fact, it is one of the few swim toys I would consider owning myself.

I was going to ask you how you usually do your whip kick - on front with board?
Those boards are definitely nice looking, but I suppose one must still kick while using them to experience any improvement.
Jenny, yes usually with a standard board at Plant, now with a fancy board at U of O, but sometimes without a board & thumbs locked.
Al -- it is a tragic flaw!
Interesting kickboard! Looks like it'd almost move forward by itself to me :-)
Wouldn't that be nice, Shirley?
