Nothing is Ever ...

Say it with me kids ... simple or easy!

With the roofers coming tomorrow and Wednesday, me leaving Thursday, the Boarder's extraordinarily inconsistent schedule (even for him) after the big dust-up last week things naturally came to a head today. Labour Day. A holiday Monday.

He turned up this morning with a swollen forearm, under the elbow with the good-sized wound. Yup. Just brilliant!

May I just say, though, I heart Houdini's v-e-t! You probably knew that already. But I say it again, because a v-e-t that gives you his email address and answers your somewhat panicked questions on a holiday is pretty much worth his weight in gold.

And friends who are willing to step into the breach and ferry you and the animal you don't own to the v-e-t's on a moment's notice? Or offer to help pitch in for the bill? Pretty much priceless. Neighbours who are willing to feed and water him if we can keep him confined while I'm away? The same applies.

So while juggling this poorly timed veterinary emergency isn't quite what I needed, exactly, I'm absolutely blessed with the support of some very, very good people.

Oh — and The Boarder's made two kinds of deposits in the box today, and at least continues to eat like nobody's busines. His tin count today is less than 4, more than 3. But one was very small.

Hmmm...despite plans made, might it be time to strongly encourage the boy to become a permanent resident? He sure is a scrapper, isn't he? Nothing beats friends and family when you're in a pinch; you've got good support there.

What Deb said. Those boys who go out and get into trouble will break your heart - and your bank account!! ;)
What nice friends and v-e-t.

Deb, it's an odd thing. There are certain other strays I know he'll make a stand against. There are other cats he runs away from and is very submissive with.

Di, I hear you!! We shall see how this progresses, and how Onyx feels about the situation. Right now he is resigned to staying in. But when he feels better, it's anybody's guess what will happen.

With my new dog in the fold, I'm going to need some great friends like yours.

Joe, you'll probably find you already have them!
