Mail Call!

Some days the mailbox is empty. Some days it is full of junk. Some days it is full of requests for money. Some days it is full of bills (a different kind of request for money). And yesterday …

  • There was a real honest to goodness stamped and post marked thank you card from the lady who hosted the Snowsuit Fund cocktail party last weekend
  • There was a Christmas card (okay, I’m panicking now, I haven’t started!)
  • There was an invitation to Sunday afternoon tea (thé russe even)

And then there was a ring of the doorbell, as I was wondering almost aloud how one relatively small person and 2 critters can create quite so much LAUNDRY! Let me tell you, when David Rotor over at Procurement Investor tells you he’ll come up with a prize – he’ll do just that! Sometimes my brother sends me a book from Amazon, so it was a complete surprise to find that the package the fellow had in his hand was from Indigo.ca! Dave totally had me pegged, with a copy of Masterpieces of French Jewelry by Judith Price. (It is also available at Amazon.com.) Eye candy!!!! (Perfect for a snow day.) Thanks Dave!

Absolutely! And to have such a brother as well ...

Plus it is a Bad Day For Cats, so perhaps during the meowments he is resting in the hot room with the iguana, I can look at pretty pictures of sparkly things!

Elaine wonders if I should get "the Mom" a copy? After looking at the sparkly things in the book, is it Barb-worthy?

Speaking of "Bad Day For Cats" our resident neighbourhood cat didn't make it out this morning for his usual visit, treat, and nap. Hopefully he stayed home, he's about 15, has athritis, and gets kicked out of his house most days. Elaine keeps saying we need to let the owners know he's not out hunting mice anymore.

Most of the pictures are large so the details are extremely well depicted. It has brief explanations putting the pieces into historical context, and little discussion of technique. I haven't read the short articles from collectors, but I think it is a good book for a jewellery lover or coffee table. The cover is really beautiful. I will enjoy looking at the pieces over and over. And will probably lend it to friends. Would that make it Barb-worthy?

Elaine is absolutely right. But it is a lucky cat, as it probably gets more attention at your place!
